I mostly work from my own photographs. I try to photograph everyday things in an unsentimental, detached way. I spend a lot of studio time looking through my photographs and collage images together until an idea comes. Sometimes I am not that truthful to the images that I use. I’m attracted to this idea of isolation in a busy environment; moments can come often in NYC. I am very drawn to the more simple acts in the tangible world, the day to day necessities that everyone experiences. I like playing with idealism within my figures, transplanting them into an unexpected composition. To me, it comes down to acknowledging that everyone has their own reality based on their own perceptions. A folding grocery cart , earbuds, refillable water bottle, recycling bins, Toyota Camry’s, E-bikes, elevators, sidewalks, construction, receipts. Lake Erie, overcast, power lines, mailboxes, assembly line, factories, housing developments. Drawing everyday, even when the mind and imagination is empty.
